Open Access

National Point of Reference for the area of Open Access to and preservation of scientific information following the European Commission policy in Slovakia.

Since 2013 the SC STI fulfils the role of the national point of reference for the area of open access to and preservation of scientific information. Based on the appeal of Vice-President of the European Commission Digital Agenda for Europe Neelie Kroes and Commissioner Máire Geoghegan Quin, the Slovak Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport empowered the SC STI to perform this function.

The targets for the SC STI as the National Point of Reference for OA policy are as follows:

• to co-ordinate measures listed in European Commission Recommendation on „Access to and preservation of scientific information“;
• to co-operate with the European Commission in exchanging experience and creation of common principles, standards and implementation measures within the European Research Area;
• to co-operate with the European Commission in reporting about Recommendation implementation.
